The Wycombe High School Pitch Project

Opportunity and Challenge

The Project

Wycombe High School has embarked on an ambitious project to build two artificial turf pitches and changing facilities on their site at the top of Marlow Hill.  The expectation is that the first pitch will be opened in 2017.  To date they have raised over £220,000 internally towards the eventual total cost of £1.2 million.

WHS Proposed Pitches

The Opportunity

To obtain grants the School has to show that there will be community use of the facility.  They have approached WHC as the obvious partner in a non-profit Community Use Arrangement.  While additional pitches can only be good news what the Club has long sought is a site with two pitches and a clubhouse.  The School is prepared to accommodate this and England Hockey has agreed that they would support such a proposal.

The Challenge

The additional facilities we need will involve extra cost, estimated at around £250,000.  The Club has formed a group to draw up a formal agreement with the School for to plan, fund, develop, manage and operate the new WHS facilities.  There will be a General Meeting before the end of this season to decide whether we can go ahead.  Grasping this opportunity will involve many more people than currently contribute to running the Club.  We need current and former players, parents and friends of the Club to step up and take part in the most exciting project that the Club has seen for many years.
