We offer hockey for boys and girls from age 6 through to adult. Our main season runs from September to Easter with dedicated age-group training session throughout the week. See our current training schedule.
Competitive hockey is introduced gradually with small-sided games before progressing to full pitch 11-a-side matches. Our Under 8 and Under 10 age groups (school years 5 and below) play in mixed-sex teams in the Thames Valley Minis competition with monthly tournaments on Sundays. At U12 (school years 6 and 7) the Chiltern League offers monthly 11 a side tournaments for boys and girls teams. At U14 (school years 8 and 9) and above, matches are arranged against other local clubs and generally take place on Sundays. At U14 players become eligible to compete in adult matches, if ready, but are encouraged to continue with age-group hockey in parallel.
Talented Wycombe players are given the opportunity to feed into the England Hockey Player Pathway and we have many players who have progressed to county and regional level hockey and beyond.
The Club’s commitment to Junior Hockey is based upon a structured approach, as shown in our Junior Development Program, together with a close working relationship with Access Sport to promote the game of hockey to as many local children as possible. All sessions are coached by approved Wycombe Hockey Club players and coaches.
