The Code of Conduct Policy of Wycombe Hockey Club establishes the ethical standards for governance, and players and carers of Wycombe Hockey Club, in addition to all members and participants within any and all events, activities and competitions.

This Code of Conduct must be read in conjunction with England Hockey’s Spirit of Hockey – Code of Conduct, and is intended to protect the safety and well- being of individuals who associate with Wycombe Hockey, and to ensure that all individuals who associate with Wycombe Hockey Club conduct themselves with integrity, maintain a high standard of ethical conduct, and promote Wycombe Hockey Club’s values at every opportunity.

The Club will encourage the parents and carers of those taking part in junior development activities to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in sport.
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play & applauding the good performances of all.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
  • Publicly accept officials’ judgements.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.

The Spirit of Hockey – Code of Conduct applies to everyone involved in the sport of hockey, whether this is a player, coach, umpire, official, committee member or other club members or spectators.

England Hockey is dedicated to promoting and protecting the welfare of all participants, urging everyone to consistently uphold and promote the values and integrity of our sport.
