Masters Players on Fundraising Mission

Les Macready Wycombe and GB player

The Club was recently contacted by someone wanting to locate our former player Les Macready. The aim was to ensure Les received a GB cap that he was due. Les was born inHigh Wycombe and attended RGS. He played international hockey for Scotland for fifteen years and was one of the few non-English members of GB squads. Summer Hockey Underway

Since outdoor sport resumed on 28th March, we’ve been busy here at WHC! Every team had the opportunity to train for two weeks, before summer hockey activity took over. Monday Mixed has been very popular and will continue throughout the coming months, and the ladies’ Summer League at WHS has already welcomed teams from 5 other local clubs, with Wycombe’s first game seeing them beat Maidenhead 5-4 in a thrilling encounter! Roy Hawes

The Club would like to acknowledge the sad passing of Honorary Vice President Roy Hawes, at the age 93. Roy was involved with Wycombe Rye Ladies Hockey Club for many years through his wife Jean. In the days when all our hockey was played on grass, Roy took charge of ‘re-painting’ the balls and often picked up a whistle.
