After some hard work behind the scenes, the Management Committee are excited to announce a new-look coaching line-up for the coming seMark Gleghorneason.

Taking on the Ladies’ section as 1st and 2nd XI Coach is England and Great Britain forward Mark Gleghorne. A former Ireland player between 1998 and 2008, Mark has been a part of the England set up since 2011 earning almost 100 caps, and currently training at Bisham Abbey.

A qualified PE teacher and Level 2 coach, he has been involved in hockey since he was six years old and now plies his trade for Beeston Hockey Club.

Zoe Shipperley1Joining Mark is Zoe Shipperley, current England and GB defender. Having played international hockey since 2014, gaining 58 caps, Zoe also plays for Buckingham HC with whom she finished in the top four of the Investec Premiership last season. At Wycombe, Zoe will coach our junior girls’ and boys’ sides, as well as the ladies’ lower teams. As a coach she has worked at St Edwards School Oxford across both the boys and girls programmes and currently runs St Albans HC and Buckingham HC junior camps. Zoe says “I am very excited to be joining Wycombe HC coaching team. I love that the club is very forward thinking and has a drive to provide the best opportunities for all its members. I am looking forward to supporting this and can’t wait to get to know the teams I will be working with.” 

Completing the trio, Olympian and England co-captain Ian Sloan returns for his 5th season coaching the men’s 1st and 2nd XIs as well as the junior boys. Having led Wycombe 1s to promotion in 2017 and the 2s in 2017 and 2018, the club is delighted to welcome Ian back for another instalment. Growing up in Ireland and winning 21 international caps there, Ian took the decision to declare for England, making his first international appearance here in 2015. He was the youngest player in the Rio Olympic squad.

With pre-season activities just around the corner, and a new pitch to play on at Wycombe High School, the whole club can look forward to a thrilling season.
