Masters Players on Fundraising Mission

Posted by Nancy Fradgley on 15 July 2021

Seven of the Masters team (age range 50-70 years) are cycling the 140 mile C2C route from Whitehaven to Newcastle across the Lake District in three weeks' time to raise money for Suzie Aries’ immunotherapy fund.  WHC has been very much involved in, and supported, Suzie’s ovarian cancer journey since diagnosis in February 2017 as she’s one of our own, having been a junior and student member with WHC.   The below photo shows Suzie celebrating promotion with our Ladies 1st XI ca. 2010

1s Promotion to South 2

The incredible news it that Suzie is finally beating this tenacious Small Cell Ovarian Cancer - she has been cancer free since starting immunotherapy in November 2019.  Unfortunately this treatment is not provided by the NHS and the GoFundMe, which has so far raised an incredible £206,000, will run out in August before the recommended 2 year course has been completed.

Those of us taking part are all quite nervous about the cycle but have been doing a lot of training in the Chiltern Hills. We are determined to complete this challenge and get more money for Suzie to help save her life.  This is where we need you all to help us.  By donating to team Saddled and Addled on her GoFundMe page: or through simply sharing this story far and wide on FB and other social media you can make a HUGE difference.

Thank you from team Saddled and Addled
